The wire nobody checks until it's a callback
Most thermostat callbacks in Cypress trace back to one thing: a retrofit that never had a C wire pulled to the air handler. Older systems ran the low voltage thermostat wiring for a simple switch, not a smart unit that needs continuous power to run its screen and its Wi-Fi radio. Drop a battery powered smart thermostat onto that wiring and it works for a while, then starts dropping the schedule or losing connection at the worst moment. We check what's actually behind the wall plate before we promise a specific model, and we run a proper C wire or a compatible adapter when the system needs one. A smart thermostat also isn't a fix for a badly zoned house. If one room runs hot and another runs cold, a single sensor in a hallway can't see that, and no app update changes it. We tell you when the real problem is airflow, not the thermostat.
Where we mount it, and why
Placement matters almost as much as the wiring. A thermostat on an exterior wall reads the outside temperature bleeding through the drywall, not the room around it. One sitting in direct afternoon sun through a window reads warmer than the house actually is and short cycles the system chasing a number that was never real. We mount it on an interior wall, away from supply vents, doorways and direct sun, so the reading it works from actually matches the air you're breathing.
